NFL Playoffs, Week 15 and Predictions
The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers are the two teams expected to get the top two playoff seeds in the AFC, and after a close call against their rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, the Steelers currently have the best record in the AFC.
The Patriots will be able to tie Pittsburgh with a win over the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football, which will set up a very big AFC showdown next week when the Steelers host the Patriots.
If the Steelers win, they will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs, assuming they win their remaining two games after that. If the Patriots win, they will not only have the best record in the AFC. The Patriots odds for NFL Playoff, which was already the best in the league, will likely improve.
With that being said, here’s a look at the current NFL playoff picture.
Top Two AFC Seeds
As previously mentioned, the top two spots are likely going to the Patriots and Steelers, but we won’t know who will have the top seed until they play next week.
Pittsburgh currently has the advantage because the game will be played at Heinz Stadium, but considering how successful Tom Brady and the Patriots have been in Pittsburgh over the years, it’s not that big of an advantage.
If the Patriots lose to Pittsburgh, they will still likely finish with the second best record in the AFC because the only games left on their schedule after that will be home games against the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets, which are most likely wins.
Final AFC Playoff Spots
The Buffalo Bills are currently in the final AFC playoff spot, and while some feel they will likely finish in the same position and make the playoffs for the first time since Flutie Flakes were all the rage in Buffalo, they most likely will miss out on the playoffs.
The Bills currently have the tiebreaker over the Baltimore Ravens, and Los Angeles Chargers, who have the same record, but Buffalo has a much tougher remaining schedule than both teams. The Bills have to play the Patriots on the road and the Dolphins twice, while the Ravens have to play the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, and Cincinnati Bengals.
The Chargers have to play the Kansas City Chiefs, Jets and Oakland Raiders, but with the way the AFC West is shaping up, they can still win the division while the Raiders and Chiefs fight for the final Wildcard spot.
NFC South Race
This might be the most interesting division race in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and Carolina Panthers all competing for the division lead.
The Saints defeated the Panthers twice, while the Panthers defeated the Falcons, who defeated the Saints once. With the Falcons and Panthers still playing one more time this season, the division race could come down to the final week of the season.
To make things more interesting, all three NFC South teams might make the playoffs if the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Dallas Cowboys don’t catch up with them.
With Aaron Rodgers and Ezekiel Elliott expected to rejoin their respective teams soon, the NFC race could end up being a very interesting one.
