Patriots Owner Robert Kraft Keen to Draft a Quarterback
Robert Kraft, the CEO and owner of the New England Patriots, has finally bowed to pressure by expressing that it is high time he drafts a QB. Apart from veteran quarterback Tom Brady (who is now 40 years old) has been named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the NFL
three times, Kraft only has quarterback Brian Hoyer left on the roster. The CEO must be having a great plan for patriots players for next season.
In the view of the above sentiments, Jacoby Brissett and Jimmy Garoppolo are the last two QBs that the New England Patriots drafted. Third-round pick Brissett was drafted in 2016, while second-round Garoppolo was drafted in 2014. However, both players already left
the club last season, with Jacoby Brissett traded to the Indianapolis Colts and Jimmy Garoppolo joining the San Francisco 49ers. It is with much anticipation that many fans wait to see Patriots players for next season.
While attending the NFL's Annual League meeting, Robert Kraft expressed that he is ready to put his “fan hat on”, meaning he is willing to be on the lookout for another quarterback. Kraft was responding to a concern whether the New England Patriots are keen to look
for a suitable quarterback in the draft. To show the team’s commitment to hunting for a QB, the CEO gave a typical example of their game against Kansas City in the 2008 season, when Tom Brady was out in the first quarter. Even with the odds against them, and many people anticipating a disastrous season ahead, quarterback Matt Cassel managed to lead the New England Patriots to an 11-5 season,
an achievement that patriots players for next season should reckon.
With such a clear and relative comparison of circumstances, Kraft reassured fans of his confidence and belief in Bill Belichick describing him as a responsible head coach. He added that anything could happen if quarterback Brady is at the top of his game. It is true that the NFL gets paid loads of money by many networks, which proves that American Football is one of the best entertaining product in the United States of America. As such, Kraft argued that just one person can create one perfect play that could make a big difference in the entire season. In a managerial perspective, he added that supervising an NFL franchise calls for an in-depth understanding of quality management.
In the 2000 NFL draft, the New England Patriots selected Tom Brady in the sixth round, and the quarterback managed to stamp his name as the NFL Most Valuable Player when the 2007 and 2010 seasons had ended. So far, Brady remains the oldest NFL player to clinch the
honor. He is also the fourth NFL player to be named NFL’s MVP player three or more times, after the five-time Peyton Manning as well as the three-time Johnny Unitas and Brett Favre. He recorded 32 TD passes and 4,577 passing yards in the 2017 season, an NFL-best. In addition, it is important to note that QB Tom Brady is the oldest player in the history of the NFL to lead in passing yards, a perfect explanation to why the Patriots are 15-time winners of the AFC East title.
